Annual Event Launches the New Year

Frank Howard Allen Increases Market Share in 2009
January 15, 2010 – Frank Howard Allen turns 100 this year, but that isn’t slowing us down one bit. In fact, we are thriving as the Marin County and North Bay market leader with 26% of total units sold and 24% of total dollar volume for 2009 in Marin County, and 18% of dollar volume and 16% of units sold in Marin and Sonoma counties combined.

Heart of Marin Awards Honor Volunteers and Nonprofits
Frank Howard Allen Realtors Presented with the Corporate Community Services Award
January 8, 2010 – The Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership, in partnership with Tamalpais Bank, held the 17th Annual Heart of Marin Awards Luncheon on Thursday, January 7, at the Marin Center Exhibit Hall. Marin volunteers, agency executives and nonprofits were honored by 750 people. This year, Frank Howard Allen was the proud recipient of the Corporate Community Services Award. Larry Brackett, Chairman/CEO of Frank Howard Allen, attended the event and accepted the award.

Barry Crotty Named Manager of Tiburon Office

Frank Howard Allen Seeks Donations for Annual Warm Coat and Food Drive, November 6-13
November 5, 2009 – We are collecting clean, reusable coats and jackets, as well as canned goods, as part of our annual Drive. Please drop off donations at one of several Frank Howard Allen offices Friday, November 6 through Friday, November 13 between 10 am and 4 pm. All donations will be distributed to the following organizations: Homeward Bound of Marin , the Marin Food Bank , Petaluma People Services Center , and Redwood Gospel Mission in Santa Rosa.
Larry Brackett, Chairman/CEO of Frank Howard Allen, noted: “In communicating with Homeward Bound of Marin for this event, they remarked that they’ve experienced a 50% increase in demand since last year for their emergency shelter services, and whereas the 14 rooms they have for homeless families used to be sufficient, they now have 25 families on a waiting list. Many of us want to offer support at this crucial time of year and donating food or coats is an important yet simple way to help.”

Arundel Burrell Named Exclusive Realtor for Habitat for Humanity in Marin
October 29, 2009 – Frank Howard Allen is proud to announce that Arundel Burrell, an agent in the San Rafael Office, has been selected by Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco as the organization's exclusive REALTOR® in Marin County. Earlier this week, Habitat introduced its first home in Marin after more than 15 years of efforts to bring affordable housing from Habitat to the county. The vacant and neglected foreclosed home on Center Road in Novato was acquired, with Burrell's assistance, as part of Habitat's Neighborhood Revitalization Program (NRP) -- helping to revitalize neighborhoods that have been destabilized by foreclosures and creating responsible homeownership opportunities for local working families. Habitat received a start-up grant of $250,000 from the Marin Community Foundation to help launch the program in Marin.

Frank Howard Allen Supports Local Non-Profits Through Matching Grants Program
August 31, 2009 — Frank Howard Allen is proud to announce that over $45,000 has been raised for local organizations through the 2008-2009 Matching Grants Program. The Matching Grants Program creates partnerships with local non-profits and enables agents to donate a sum of money from closed escrows, which is then matched dollar-for-dollar by the company.
“It’s a priority for us as a company and members of the community to assist in offering support - whether it be monetary or through volunteer efforts - where and when we can,” said Larry Brackett, Chairman/CEO of Frank Howard Allen. “The Matching Grants Program is a wonderful way for us to pool our resources and support these chosen organizations and the vital services they provide.”

Frank Howard Allen Signs Historic Belvedere Property — Stately home once stood in Pacific Heights
July 21, 2009 —The Moffitt Mansion is a historic property with a rich past. Originally built in 1904 by architect William Knowles for renowned physician Dr. Herbert C. Moffitt, it was later remodeled and expanded by Willis Polk (most known for his work rebuilding San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake). The home once stood in San Francisco’s Pacific Heights district before being transported through the city’s streets and eventually by barge to its current site in Belvedere.

May 13, 2009 — Frank Howard Allen is a proud sponsor of the Marin-Sonoma Concours d'Elegance, a classic car show taking place this Sunday from 10am to 4pm at the Marin Civic Center Fairgrounds.
The Concours will be a celebration of the artistic design and elegant engineering of the automobile from the past to the future. Proceeds will benefit Hospice By The Bay, a non-profit, community-based hospice and palliative care provider serving Marin, San Francisco, Northern San Mateo, and Sonoma counties. As the second oldest hospice in the U.S., they understand the medical, practical, emotional and spiritual care patients and their families need.
General admission is $15; Senior tickets are $10; Children 16 and under are free and must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets may be purchased from a ticket booth at the field on the day of the event.

Company Coat Drive Collects Over 1500 Coats
December 22, 2008 — Frank Howard Allen is thrilled to announce that over 1500 coats were collected during its first annual Coat Drive held November 14 through December 15. At first a week-long drive, the overwhelming initial response prompted the extension to one month. Coats were collected at all Frank Howard Allen offices throughout the month. A special donation came from Brownie Troop 30639 to the Greenbrae office. Two clients, who are Brownie troop leaders, decided to piggyback on the idea when they learned about the drive. Client Claire Slade, her young daughters, and the entire company of Brownie Troop 30639 collected over 50 coats from their family closets and TravelSmith in Corte Madera, which donated over 24 coats. The troop then delivered their donations in person to the Greenbrae office. In addition, the Novato office hosted a “Client Drop-Off Night." This outreach event collected 350+ coats at the Novato office.
All donated coats were distributed to the following local organizations: Catholic Charities of Santa Rosa, Committee on the Shelterless (COTS), Homeward Bound of Marin, Open Closet, Petaluma People Services Center, and Social Advocates for Youth (SAY).
Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Coat Drive and warming locals this winter.

Coats for the Community: FHAllen Warm Coat Drive, Nov. 14-19
November 7, 2008 —Though it seemed like the warm weather might last forever, the cold has finally arrived. Sadly, there are many community members who are without even the basic necessity of a warm coat. To help remedy that, Frank Howard Allen is collecting clean, reusable coats and jackets as part of a Warm Coat Drive to help those less fortunate in our communities.
Donating a coat is easy. Just bring clean, reusable coats and jackets to one of several Frank Howard Allen offices from Friday, November 14 through Wednesday, November 19 between 10 am and 4 pm. Coats of all shapes and sizes are welcome and children's sizes are most needed. All donated coats will be distributed to the following local organizations: Catholic Charities of Santa Rosa, Committee on the Shelterless (COTS), Homeward Bound of Marin, Open Closet, Petaluma People Services Center, and Social Advocates for Youth (SAY)*.

October 29, 2008 — Over 65 Frank Howard Allen agents gathered in Novato on Tuesday, October 28, for the DESIGN 08 workshop presented by Luxury Portfolio Fine Property Collection. Abelina Magana Named Citizen of the Year
October 6, 2008 — Frank Howard Allen sales associate Abelina Magana was named Citizen of the Year by the Hispanic Business Chamber of Marin. Abelina was recognized for her long years of community service and her battle to overcome the domestic violence of which she was a victim last year. Frank Howard Allen General Sales Manager, Ronna Somers, accepted the award in Abelina's place at the 15th Annual Bank of Marin Spirit of Marin Awards Luncheon which was held at St. Vincent's School for Boys on September 26. Abelina moved to Arizona earlier this year to be closer to family while she continues her recuperation.

August 18, 2008 — Frank Howard Allen is proud to announce that over $45,000 was raised through the 2007-2008 Matching Grants Program from company-matched agent donations. Dedicated to the responsible growth and development of the North Bay, Frank Howard Allen actively supports community causes throughout the year. The Matching Grants Program, which creates partnerships with local community-based organizations, is the largest company-wide endeavor.

July 10, 2008 - Living up to its name, the Greenbrae office has decided it’s time to go green and launched the Green Committee earlier this year to raise awareness and help reduce their environmental footprint. In the months since, the office has enacted several initiatives showing solidarity towards becoming more eco-conscious. Greenbrae is the second Frank Howard Allen office to make an office-wide green effort: the San Rafael Office began incorporating some earth-friendly practices in late 2007.

March 24, 2008 - The Frank Howard Allen Greenbrae Office was a proud sponsor of the second annual Egg Hunt at the Miwok Stables Center, Sunday, March 23. Frank Howard Allen Participates in Week of Caring, September 9-14
Volunteers from six local businesses, organized by the Business Volunteer Council of Marin, will help a group of clients from the Casa Allegra Community Services program take a long awaited trip to Angel Island on September 14 as part of the Annual Week of Caring. The six BVC organizations participating in the Casa Allegra Week of Caring project are AG Edwards / Planned Giving Professionals, AngelPoints, Bregante + Co., Citibank, Frank Howard Allen and Morgan Stanley.
The Week of Caring is organized as a partnership by The United Way and The Volunteer Centers of the Bay Area as a way for corporations to work together and strengthen their community involvement.

Giving Back to Community
Frank Howard Allen and its agents raised over $55,000 for local organizations from company matched agent donations through the 2006-2007 Matching Grants Program, designed to create partnerships with local community-based organizations. Each year the agents choose an organization in their community to be the recipient of their office's Matching Grant funds, generated when agents elect to donate a sum of money from closed escrows, which is then matched dollar for dollar by the company.
The Matching Grant checks are presented annually. Among this year’s recipients are COTS/Committee of the Shelterless (Petaluma Office), Homeward Bound of Marin (Tiburon and Novato Offices), The Living Room (Santa Rosa Office), Meals of Marin (Greenbrae Office), Hospice By The Bay (San Rafael Office) and AHO/The Ambassadors of Hope and Opportunity (Mill Valley Office).
Hospice By The Bay, located in Marin County, is grateful for the support. “Successful partnerships are an integral part of community enrichment, growth, and prosperity. Frank Howard Allen Participates in the 19th Annual Business Showcase
Agents from the Novato Office Network, Connect and Help Support Novato’s Economy
Frank Howard Allen joined more than 50 other local businesses at the 19th Annual Business Showcase, held at the Unity Church in Hamilton on August 29, 2007. The event is put on annually by the Novato Chamber of Commerce.
The beautiful setting served as the ideal venue for networking with other business owners and Chamber representatives. Frank Howard Allen hosted a booth outside in the courtyard, alongside eight other businesses, including Bank of Marin, Kaiser Permanente and Ignacio Rotary Club. Also outside were several food vendors serving up a great assortment of treats.
Frank Howard Allen held a raffle at its booth and gave away candies and pens. Two lucky drawing winners each received a basket loaded with goodies. Many of the other companies gave out key chains, mints, candy, etc., while Bank of Marin scooped ice cream for attendees.

Company Sponsored Children's Avenue Raises $15,000 For Youth in Arts
Benefactor sponsors Frank Howard Allen and Old Republic Title photographed the young artists along “Children’s Avenue,” for a new online gallery at KidStreetArt.com
Children ages 2-12 were invited to express their creativity at the 2007 Youth in Arts Italian Street Painting Festival and Children’s Avenue, sponsored by Frank Howard Allen Realtors and Old Republic Title Company. Volunteers from both companies captured the much loved event on Polaroid film, as keepsakes for the kids to take home and for the first time ever, digitally for an online gallery – KidStreetArt.com, where nearly 300 photos featuring talented youngsters intently focused on their work and proudly showing off their chalk creations can be found.
Around 1500 kids turned out over the course of the two day event, held June 9-10 in downtown San Rafael. They joined hundreds of professional and student madonnari (street painters) who covered the streets in spectacular chalk renditions ranging from reproductions of classic masterpieces to pop culture tributes, while the festival’s featured artists, Mark Wagner and Clayton Thiel, worked in the third dimension. Meanwhile, over on Children’s Avenue, favorite themes included cartoon characters, flowers and pet portraits.

Frank Howard Allen Santa Rosa Agent Juan Nieto Recognized for ‘Serving the Latino Community’
From dozens of nominees submitted by local industry leaders, the editorial staff of the North Bay Business Journal selected Juan Nieto as a stand-out in the North Bay for his work with the Latino community. Industry leaders from throughout the North Bay were invited by the Business Journal to nominate outstanding new home developments and innovative brokers and agents from Sonoma, Marin and Napa counties. From those nominations, the editorial staff selected 15 winners in 13 categories for the May 28, 2007 'Best in Residential Real Estate' supplement.

Novato, CA, May 15, 2008 – Frank Howard Allen is pleased to announce the selection of Ronna Somers as General Sales Manager and Fred Angeli as Director of Risk Management. Both positions will become effective in August.
“After interviewing many wonderful candidates, from inside the Company and out, we have made the decision to restructure the job of General Manager. This has allowed us to promote two stellar candidates from within our great pool of talent, something we prefer to do whenever possible,” said Noreen Smith, President/CFO of Frank Howard Allen.
“We have grown over the years to encompass over 600 of the best agents in the business and we are so fortunate to have the kind of talent and leadership in our company that allows us to move our own into key positions,” adds current General Manager, Becky Gould.
A 30-year real estate veteran, Somers has been with Frank Howard Allen since 1984 working first as a sales associate and then as Assistant Manager of the San Rafael office; in 1998 Somers was promoted to Manager of the Novato Office and in 2007 she took the helm of the Business Development department. As General Sales Manager, Somers will continue to work on recruiting, retention, and training, and will also concentrate on the area of productivity.
Angeli, Manager of the San Rafael Office for 20 years, will be responsible for risk management as well as forms and other related areas in his new position of Director of Risk Management. Angeli has been part of Frank Howard Allen for more than 20 years and has 30+ years of real estate experience.

As per the norm, volunteers captured the event as keepsakes for the artists to take home. However, for the first time ever, images were also taken digitally for an online gallery – KidStreetArt.com.
Children’s Avenue participants paid $12 for a 2-by-2-foot square, box of pastels and a blending eraser, generating $15,144 to benefit Youth in Arts, the premier provider of arts education to Marin County Students.

NOVATO, CA, May 23, 2007 – Frank Howard Allen Realtors and Old Republic Title Company are proud to serve as benefactor sponsors of the 2007 Youth in Arts Italian Street Painting Festival and Children’s Avenue, June 9-10.
Each year, a highlight of the festival is the Children’s Avenue, where small squares are reserved for children ages 2-12 to create their own street art. To capture this creativity in action, volunteers from Frank Howard Allen and Old Republic will take individual photos of the mini-madonnari for them to take home. The photographers can be spotted wearing blue aprons, and as a new feature this year, a representative will also take an assortment of digital photos. With permission, these images will be featured in an online gallery following the event. The cost for a square is only $12 and proceeds go to benefit Youth in Arts, the premier provider of arts education to Marin County students.
